Where the h#$% does this plug in?

The PO made this nifty little jumper so the blower will work. I know (I think) it plugs into the Blower Motor Resistor/Regulator, but where is that??? What you see in the pic is hanging down in the passenger footwell. I have had the bolsters out, the glove box out and searched everywhere that plug could reach and find NOTHING to plug it into. Could the PO have removed the Blower Motor Resistor/Regulator? If that is the case where is it SUPPOSED to be? I have re-soldered the CCU and feel that may have been the problem all along but I can't test it till I figure this blower regulator business out. Any help is greatly appreciated. BTW this is on the '83 SD.

the resistor pack is under your brake booster in the fake firewall area.
that socket looks like it goes to the vacuum block. I have the panels out of one of my 83SD's I can look today, and see if I can spot the thing. you've soldered your ccu, so it's not one of the two sockets that plug into it... I'll let you know.

this is my 10,000'th post. wow, I type a lot.

Could this plug in to something inside the blower case? It is probably long enough for that. I'm going to investigate further, maybe some more pics.

Seeing how the conenctor is on the right side under dash, there is a blower regulator behind the glovebox. I think you might be able to see it if you remove the kick panel and shine a light up into the dash area.

I think I found it, don't know why I didn't see this before. Isn't something supposed to be mounted on this bracket? (see white box in pic) Like maybe one of these:
http://catalog.peachparts.com/ShopByVehicle.epc?q=&yearid=1983@@1983&makeid=63@@MERCEDES+BENZ@@X&modelid=6207%3AED|10000134%3AMBC|1510@@300SD&catid=242213@@Climate+Control&subcatid=242297@@Blower+Regulator&applicationid=W0133-1715333@@Blower%20Regulator&mode=PA

The socket sure looks the same, the mounting holes look like they would fit... I bet the PO took this out thinking it was the problem. What say you all?

I'm pretty sure the empty bracket holds the blower regulator, which in this car is missing. I found one on Ebay and bought it. Now I just hope that was the problem. Either way the car didn't have a blower regulator anyway...
