Headliner material
I don't know if I am posting this in the right place. I have a 95 E300D Black pearl with gray mbtex. How do I find what headliner material to order and where to order material?

Hello,
Here is what I found about the 95 E300D headliner. GHH it can only be purchase from Mercedes, there are no aftermarket materials to purchase. The headliner on the board is $400 and the sunroof is $582 the cloth is not available from Mercedes. So I am looking for something that is a close match. |

My 2 cents:
Earlier this year I purchased a 95 E300D with a sagging headliner. After noticing that the backer board for the headliner appeared to be fiberglass (rather than the cardboard that I was expecting), I removed the headliner and cleaned the fiberglass backer board in an attempt to recover it myself ..... a huge waste of time. After wasting vast amounts of time and trying a half-dozen different adhesives, I threw in the towel because nothing would bond properly. I eventually bought a $400+ replacement from Phil .... fit perfectly and installed in about 90 minutes. The original sunroof headliner matched nicely, even though it is 15 years older. |

That headliner pressed-fiberglass is standard auto-industry stuff, we made many of them OE at a company where I worked for several years.
The bonding is a contact-adhesive, and the headliner material is pressed into the fiberglass substrate with an air-pressurized membrane. Difficult to duplicate for one headliner, but doable.
