Electrical Problem!

OK, I have no clue what is going on here. and its making me a little upset. I spent last night installing the drive line in my SD. as some of you know I've totaly over hauled the power train and installed a manual transmission... well last night I had every T crossed and ever I dotted (mechanically.......) and then I tried to start it and no go.
I started the car last week without the drive shaft, and it started just fine. so I don't understand what could have changed between now and then.

First I checked the battery for voltage. None. so then I put a charger on it thinking it when dead since last week. the charger sparked then popped it breaker. So i disconnected the battery cables and put the charger on it. this time the charger did nothing. so then I got another battery. when I hooked it up, major sparks... OK i have a major short.
I disconnected the cables from the starter, there is no short in the cable from the battery to the starter.
I then started disconnecting and testing each wire. all the wires seem to be fine, except this one.

when I test the voltage from the positive side of the battery to this wire I get 12.5 same as if i tested from positive to ground.

When I test Ohms to ground I get 2.4

Is this normal? where does this wire go? its the large red wire leaving the distribution block.
