i just put in a rebuilt hirschman antenna,car has cheap aftermarket radio but new antenna does not work,switch on dash also does not work.i replaced antenna as i just recently bought car and mast was broken etc etc,old one did not work when i bought it(yes i could have tried to rebuild).


so what to check first-if wire that activates antenna with radio on is not connected will switch on dash still activate antenna?i have not taken radion out,im planning on replacing soon .fuses ok

what model antenna?

how is the "cheap radio" installed? does the radio have an antenna motor signal wire? is it hooked up to the mast control wire?

here is update on antenna non function,i ended up putting in a retro style radio from becker-the wire from radio to antenna and switch had not been hooked up,now switch on dash and antenna all work great.

what I also do when the radio does not have an output for the antenna is to wire the antenna signal to the auxiliary power. That way when the key is in run position the antenna can be activated.
