vacuum pump noise
1999 E300TD. This week I noticed that every time I open or close my doors I hear the vacuum pump "moaning" for about 10 seconds. It sounds like it is struggling. The weather has been very cold this week and I don't know if that has anything to do with it. Also, i'm not sure if the vacuum is in the trunk or under the seat. Has anyone ever experienced this before? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hmm. just opening and closing the doors should not activate the pump.
perhaps you have a loose wire or a damaged door lock switch?

Yes vstech opening the doors does activate the pump because whenever I have been driving the doors automaticly lock and when I open the door handle the pump comes on to unlock all the other doors.

so, your doors are causing the pump to activate when it's locked, and you open from the inside from the handle... normal. or outside with the key, normal. but just opening the doors when they are already unlocked should not activate the pump unless something is damaged in the wiring or the activator switch.
