pic n pull wet dream

Well, I experienced today what many MB diesel enthusiasts lay awake at night dreaming about. At approximately 2:00 p.m. today a fresh 300DT was dropped in the Oakland yard while I was hunting through the Euro section looking for a rear seat back rest with head rests and a monovalve to keep as a spare. Since I didn't have many tools or much time, I only took a few things: The VCV which doesn't hold vacuum , the U-tube between the turbo and air filter housing, tach amp that works, and a GP relay that works without lighting the GP light. If I still owned a W123, I probably would have wasted a lot more money stocking up on parts I'll never use. The Palomino interior and blue(repaint?)exterior isn't that great. Happy picking East Bay folks.

I also visited the PNP today, and found plenty of decent 201's, several 124's a few 126's and ....
a nearly perfect 107
totally blew me away, a nearly pristine 79 450SL... no top in sight, but otherwise complete and unmolested.

I wish they had a PNP attitude here in Europe - it doesn't have to be an actual pick and pull - just a bit of common sense would be nice. Some guys here seem to be outraged when you laugh in their faces when they ask for 90% of the cost of the new price for second hand stuff.

Army, its most likely because your land has to much value. I'm honestly shocked that the US has as many junk yards as they do. Hopefully people here see that value of junk yards as part of the whole "green" movement we have... "Recycle, Reduce, Reuse"... junk yards are the heart of the recycle and reuse part of that little mantra. I hope they can keep the junk yards clean (pick n pull is excellent at this) so the "greenys" don't just see them as a source of pollution. and the land doesn't get priced out form beneath them.
