Coolant leak on 606, but I can't see how to fix it.

I'm loosing coolant and I think I see where it's coming from but it doesn't look good. It looks like it's coming from one of the star bolts that hold the alternator bracket on. I don't see how I can fix it.

Are you sure it's not blowing back from the weep hole on the waterpump? If it is coming from that bolt, um, probably not good!

Where is the weep hole? It looks like it's dripping from right under that bolt, but it's really hard to see clearly.

No, I don't think so. Looks like the weep hole is on top of the pump when the pump is installed on the car and I don't see any moister around it.

Geez,
Get what you need to replace thermostat housing, thermostat, gaskets, water pump, expansion tank cap, possibly expansion tank, and G-05 coolant. At your mileage, its time for all of that if you haven't done it already. Easy job...and its probably time.

Search forum for 606 thermostat housing and see why it just needs to be replaced.

Two "Weep" holes

On that pump.
The Bottom "Weep" hole has a brass pipe fitting
(For attaching the drain pipe [Plastic] which diverts the "Weep-age" from the
Alternator)

The top "Weep" hole has no fitting.

In the picture:
The "Top" is on the left.
The Bottom is on the right.

OK, I finally got the water pump and housing out. kind of a job Nether look bad, and the pump is not making any griding noises while turning it by hand. I'm not sure if I should replace it, and I can't find a part number on the housing. Nothing looks out of the ordinary. I have to replace the gaskets ether way though.
Should I replace both the pump and housing too? A site is selling a new pump for $31, looks like a great buy but it's a "Replacement" brand and I'm not sure of the quality on those. If the housing if crazy money I'm probably going to reuse the original.

My fan cannibalized itself and broke off a blade so I think the unbalanced spinning shook loose the housing, causing the leak.

Unbalanced Fan

"Loads Up" the Fan Clutch (Which is bolted to the Water Pump) and MAY have
screwed up the WP Bearings [Which, when they're out of order,LEAK]

Do Not Waste your money on "Off" branded Water Pumps.
(Laso is one of the O.E. Suppliers to Mercedes.)
Lee @ the "Buy Parts" tab above (All Parts Express) has one for $129.++
A "Mercedes" branded Laso Water Pump from a dealer is MSRP @$144.++

housing

the thermostat housing for my 95e300d was not expensive. I think it was around $30. I replaced my pump this summer with OEM from the dealer.

Here are the parts. You can see in the picture of the housing it looks fine. Dealer wants a $140 for a new one so I'm just going to change the gaskets and reuse the housing. A new pump, thermostat, and thermo housing are on order, $105,$27, and $21 respectively. So not too bad.
I'm starting to feel like I went over board on this though. Those bolts on the water pump and housing are only torqued to 10nm, and with the fan out of balance I think it could have easily shaken the housing loose causing the leak. I should have tried tightening them before disassembling half my car, Oh well.

I searched as connerm suggested in Post #7 and came up with this thread:
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=147385&highlight=606+thermostat+housing

Sounds like your old housing is FUBAR.
