Idle clicking
There is a click and quite a lot of timing chain stretch, when you rev the engine the click goes off and when you let go of the pedal the clicking starts again, turned over the engine by hand.... no hitting or noises detected.
Is this a sign that the chain is about to give up? Thanks

I've had ticking noises that disappeared with a new alternator. So you might see if you can pinpoint the noise.

FYI
A recording (audio/video) of the sound would help your diagnosis.

there isn't anything hitting/touching thats for sure
is it a possibility though that its the badly worn timing chain is causing the click so we could get that one out of the equation?
