My 82 300SD was T boned
2 nights ago I was on my way to pick up our son from a friend, I came up to a stop sign and slid right thru on black ice, then a large SUV plowed into the pasenger side OUCH! Glass flying all over the place. I got badly cut up but after a trip in the ambulance to the trauma unit, CAT scans and a bunch of other tests I was OK. If i was driving the Honda ???
The question I have is when the insurance company pays out for the car, they take ownership of the totaled car. Do any of you have experience in getting the car back? I'd like to get another 81,82,83,84,85 SD and I have many new parts in the 82. Thanks Marshall 1982 300SD 200420 Mi. |

on a car like that, with that type of damage, beware of reusing the engine etc. ask Whunter about his troubles... but as long as you don't advertise to the insurance company about the money you've spent on the car, you should get it for scrap value. 3-800.00 likely nothing is useable in the doors like regulators and such, but the motors may be good. if the radiator took any damage, get it disconnected from the transmission ASAP. water bad...
if you show 1000.00 in recipts to the insurance co, they will attempt to charge you for that amount as well as the scrap value on the car. so be careful what you tell them. take care of yourself and get a really good checkup, if you don't try to wring the insurance for "kyropractic" maladies, you have a better chance of getting a good deal for the reclaiming of your car. |
