possible clogged fuel line
I am back with my 83 240d not starting. problems started with the car when it would not turn off. My son, the owner, pushedthe stop button to make it stop. we turn it to a mechanic to see iffin he could fix the problem. the car sat in his shop 2 weeks while the mechanic did nothing to fix the problem. I replaced the primer pump because we saw no fuel in the pre-filter. I disconnected the hose to the strainer and fuel flowed freely. I have pumped the primer pump at least 100 times continually and still no fuel visable. There is fuel in the tank. Any suggestions?

bad primer pump or hole in front or rear rubber hose from supply line? check those two first. Or if you have a farily full tank you can swap return and supply lines to see if you get fuel by pumping the primer.

It's the inlet line to the pre-filter (primary filter). Fuel should gravity flow out of the line when removed from the filter.

And on the other end it is the one screwed into the bottom of the fuel tank. It is actually screwed into the tank strainer. The strainer is usually behind a big rubber cover.
