Testing a block heater?
I cant tell if my block heater is working or not. Are there any ways I can test it? I mean with a multimeter or something. Not just plugging it in for days. I swear I used to be able to hear my block heater humming. Not sure I can hear it anymore.
Thanks!

The top of the engine should be warm within 2-3 hours with it plugged in. And in a quiet room you should be able to hear it heating the coolant in the block.
Or use a killowatt meter....that's what I'd use.

While I haven't used mine yet a Kill A Watt meter indicates it is using 500 watts of power when plugged in.
I can also heat the current arc or spark when I initially plug it in.

Quote:
It could Simply be that the something has happened to Power Cord/corroded Block Connector or maybe it is even unplugged at the Block Connection.
