vcv broken.

about a week ago the transmission on my 1987 300d started shifting really hard. I just got the car in the shop today to figure out why. I connected a vac gague teed into the line that goes to transmission pressure modulator. I found there was no vacuum. I then checked for vacuum at the vcv and found that there was no vacuum after the vcv but had vacuum before vcv. i took the vcv off the ip and applied vacuum to it manually with a mity vac it holds vacuum and will not release no matter how it is adjusted. has anyone ever seen this before? Does anyone have a good one they would like to sell me?

The VCV for the 1987 300D is clinched, making it difficult to repair, if it is possible at all. You can try two things:

- Spray brake cleaner (or similar) through it (after you have removed it from the engine) so that dirt is flushed out (be careful, brake cleaner is highly flammable). This only works if the VCV is dirty.

- Drill out the clinches and try to repair. You need bolts or new clinches to close it afterwards. I don't know if the VCV can be repaired, but you can try.

TOOK MY VCV APART VERY CAREFULLY TODAY AND IT IS COMPLETELY RUINED INSIDE. THERE IS A DIAPHRAGM THAT DISINTEGRATED AND CLOGED ALL THE CHECK VALVES AND PASSAGES INSIDE. SO I NEED A NEW ONE IT LOOKS LIKE.
