Transplanting an engine and transmission into my 82 300 TD.

What would you rebuild / replace while you had the engine and tranny out of the car ??

You have given us no information about the motor & trans.
how many miles?
any blow by from the motor?
any harsh changing in the trans or slippage?
why have you taken the motor out?
You should read threads by konstan, he did a motor rebuild recently. Army has done a rebuild on a N/A recently. between those 2 you should have a good idea what might need doing.
Good Luck !!

Are you transplanting one TD engine into another TD? If you're transplanting a non-TD engine, you'll have to swap the head to keep the sls pump.

Just rebuilt the entire suspension system front and back.

And my discussions in OD usually are expressing a viewpoint.

And my posts in DD are usually just questions.

Guess you think I am a political ranter ??

Wonder if it's possible to just pressurize the system and seal it up. You'd have to remove the adjustment lever but it seems like it would work without a pump. I know when my main rubber hose broke, everything was copesetic until I stupidly stopped for fuel and the people in the back seat got out, calling for an adjustment which bled off the pressure and then I was sitting at the bottom with no way to get it up.

The previous owner had rigged up a valve that held air pressure in the sls system.

Did not work well.

I removed the system and replaced the rear shocks with shocks from a Chevy C20, I think it was.

had to enlarge the bottom bolt holes on the shock just a titch.

But it is a bad ride.

Well, I might.

But the trolling on this forum is pretty bad.

Lot of people with no experience, but a lot to say, usually negative.

What kind of pics would you guys be interested in ???

Isnt there a power steering pump on one of the gassers that has a hydraulic pump on the back of it for sls?
It may provide a simple solution.
Are there w123 wagons without sls, maybe gassers? There are w124 wagons without sls, I have one!! It left the factory without sls.

Good luck with what ever you do !!
