Good evening all.
I own a 1986 126.125.
I'm about to replace all 6 glow plugs.I was told it would be easier to simply remove the intake manifold to do so.
Is this the most practical way of replacing them?

Unless you're going to have your eight-year-old son somehow stick his hands in there with a mini-wrench... OK, that was a joke. However, a practical suggestion: be sure that your engine is very, very clean before you start taking the manifold off. It's easy for crud to fall into places that it doesn't belong.

if you have the 603 (I assume this is a SD/L) you have to take off the intake, for some reason they took my injector lines off when they replaced mine.

the lines are attached to the underside of the manifold in a few spots but it's not difficult to detach the brackets for the lines and otherwise leave them alone. in other words, the injector lines don't need to come off.

i suggest getting the plastic clips and rubber buffers that secure the injector lines before doing the glow plugs, they will almost certainly need to be replaced and some of them are very hard to get on once the manifold is back in place. most of the clips need to be disturbed to remove and manifold and once you take them apart they will break or be damaged. there several kinds of clips and two different rubber pads however i think the two rubber pads have superceded to one part. they are important items to keep the injectors lines secure and if they're missing or failing the lines themselves can fail. all the clips you need will be about 30 bucks, maybe less.

you also need the little gasket for the intake pipe and the big one for the intake manifold. if you don't have a glowplug reamer you need one of those also.

Zip ties work good if you dont have clips. I zip tie lines to the rubber pads if any Are missing

I took the intake off with the lines attached, but then it took forever to bleed.
