Hit one deer, one hit me

Driving home Friday morning at 12:45 a few mph under the limit two deer appeared from my left. I hit the skidders and hit the first one at about 10 mph launching him (?) 15 feet forward. D.O.Landing. His running mate ran into the fender. Two female cops were about 1/2 mile behind and stopped to assist. While we were talking the 2nd deer woke up and kicked me in the shin as we were doing that cop stuff and proceeded to kick the car about 6 times as he/she was getting up to do, and did, it's version of 'hit and run'. Or is that 'hit and hobble'?
The deer was mad at me and the stupid car it ran into!

I finally got this car '84 300 CD' road ready and wouldn't ya know.... I was only hurt by the kick - small bruise - and am glad that the FLASH of the deer coming through the glass did not happen!

As for the car:
Broken headlight door and corner light.
Broken headlight mount bracket that mounts to grill piece.
Destroyed fender.

Trying to post pictures so this post won't be 'useless' but can't figure out how, yet

It's important for insurance purposes to report that the deer hit you.

It violated the road law, not you. If you hit a deer, it's your fault. Same as if you hit a pedestrian, you must be in control of your car and stop before that happens.

In TN hitting a deer is a non-chargeable claim. You have to be in control of your car but are not responsible for deer or people that jump out into the road. Unfortunately, some people think that they get a free pass to hit cyclists even though cyclists are vehicles.

That is silly and I challenge you to prove it.
First--- road laws do not apply to deer. Only fight or flight laws given to them by nature apply to them.
You are not responsible for a pedestrian who darts out in front of you on purpose.

Of course it's silly. You're talking to an insurance company, not the law. They make the rules about claims and coverage, not the law.

"The deer hit me." Practice it, say it...

Allstate in MI considers all deer-car accidents to be not-at-fault accidents. BTDT.

At least you didn't load up deer # 2 in the back seat of the car, thinking that you'd have some venison....

When the deer wakes up inside your car...... possibly while you're driving........

Deer hits are comprehensive non chargable in Pa. There are over 50,000 deer hits reported in Pa each year. I see fresh kills daily on my way to and from work and have had many close near hits. Never hit one though but left some tire on the road stopping quick.

My Step Dad hit a drunk once who darted across a busy hwy. It shook him up and he had to go to court. His family didn't mind he was hit and killed. Weird huh? My step Dad was not charged but it bothered him till he passed.

We hit a frog once on the way to go fishing and stopped to pick it up. It had jumped up as we passed over and was just stunned. When it woke up it started shooting around the car like a bb.

I caught it and stuffed it in a worm box. Then the next swampy area we drove by we released it.

Fun memory.

Something my dad and I did with two of my kids.

I had 3 deer incidents in less than a year. 2 hit me, the third was the slowest of a group I avoided. Once I proceeded, Bam! out of the bushes on the edge of the road was my lucky new friend.

best of luck.

Four big ones ate holes in my shrubs last night, ... then on the way home tonight I had to wait for them to walk calmly off of the road, want to hit them now.
