Anyone have a set of W124 underbody panels?

Mine caught a good-size puddle and shredded themselves on the interstate a few miles later.
I still have the engine noise panel, but the fiberglass transmission panel was toast. I don't want to pay the dealer price, and I was hoping someone had one laying around that they no longer need or want.

no-one has a set 'laying around'.

these are parts that cost over 400 bucks from the dealer and anyone who knows what they are will price them accordingly. you will not find anyone on this forum who doesn't know what they are worth.

if you want them, you have to pay, it's simply one of those kind of parts.

I've been looking for about a year, ... found a couple but they were too far away (shipping $$). Occasionally a forum member who doesn't care for them will let them go.

About 3 years ago, one dealer in Florida listed a new tranny panel for about $240 - most likely a good bit higher now.

The tranny panel on my wrecked 87 was split in half across it's width when I first got the car, drilled and held together with tystraps. I used some short flat strips of thin sheet metal on both sides and some machine screws and nuts to bolt the two halves back together, and sealed up the seam with some J B Weld putty.

Perhaps if yours isn't busted into multiple separate pieces, you might be able to do a similar repair. After all, unless the car is up on a lift being serviced, who's going to see the panel anyway? As long as it can be made to perform it's intended function.

Unfortunately, the big chunk of my tranny panel is (presumably) still sitting by the side of I-16 outside of Savannah, Georgia. :/

I know the part is expensive, but I know some people don't care about them and I've seen them offered for the price of shipping. No insult meant to anyone, I'm not trying to cheat.
