Does the radiator really have to come off?
I need to replace the tensioner bracket. Per the FSM, I cannot remove the fan without removing the radiator if the car is has the turbo?
Really? this is for the 190d 2.5td

pull the shroud, and see. you will need to fit at a minimum a 10 or 12mm allen in there.

I helped a friend on a non-turbo 2.5.
He was able to get it, but used a home made tool. I think a conventional socket will not work. -cut off a piece of a conventional allen key -insert it into the clutch bolt -use corresponding combo wrench to turn the bolt. (may have to add another wrench onto the end of the first one to extend) |

On the 2.5turbo you can remove the upper radiator brace to lean the radiator forward, which gave me plenty of room to do it on my 190Dt. I believe that there are two bolts on each end of the brace, really easy.

I had an allen key that fit in there. Sockets won't fit.
And it's an 8mm, no? |
