Windows stopped working 85 300D
Stopped my car today to go into the store, before that all of my Windows were working fine, except my rear right which clicked on the way up when it got to the top. Now none of them work, any ideas?

Check the fuses and don't use the one that makes noise, it needs a new regulator.
|
So, weird thing. I replaced all of my fuses because I had a fuse kit. I opened my rear driver side door to get my fuses, opened the driver door and opened the hood. I put the hood all the way up and changed every fuse. When placing the fuse cover back on I noticed it was pressing on some wires so I moved it. I turned the power on and the windows still didn't work, so I closed the hood, closed all of the doors and started the car to leave and tested the windows one last time and.... they worked!
Any ideas? |
broke wire in the door hinge area shorting things?
|
As previously stated the noisy Rear Window is an issue with the Window Regulator.
I had a problem with both Rear Window Regulators being bent. http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=254722&highlight=Extreme While it does sound like a Wire issue where the Door Hinges; the Window Switches have also been known to work intermittently (burned contacts inside can often be cleaned/scraped). |

Do you know where I can find a wiring diagram or anything else I would need for this job? They started acting up again. |
there are only 2 wires going to the motor, I think they are green and black, but if you remove the door panel (follow DG's pictorial on that if you've never taken a 123 panel off) and you will see two screws near the hinge area with the motor wires on them, follow those to the dash area. odds are good you'll find the broken wire.

Where can I get replacement wires? Im an electrical noob, which is sad, because my Father was an electrical engineer...
