Radiator disposition
Good Morning All;
Following an unfortunate 'run-in' with a deer, I now find myself in possession of a holed radiator and a/c condenser from my '85 300TD. The idea of simply tossing them out with the trash does not sit well with me, but is there enough scrap value in these to make it worth my while to find someone who will exchange them for cash? Thanks, Dave |

I usually don't have enough metal at any one time to warrant my time and gas to take it to a scrap yard. It does get recycled however. Put it out the day before trash day and its always gone in the morning. Radiators, mufflers, pieces of body shell, etc.

It is a pity I know - but you can't save everything...

Clean aluminium is worth quite a bit right now. If you take the time to remove any plastic and steel the aluminium is worth more than twice as much. Any local recycle centre should pay you a fair amount. I got $30 for a pair of cleaned up (non-aluminium removed) rads a while back.

Recycle that old metal man!
There's a scrap metal recycler in my own town. I just bring it in and they weigh the sucker regardless of whats on it and give me cash. I got 15$ for an old water pump and radiator.

Just collect a few aluminum cans as well, next time you are going to drive past a scrap metal place (dont make a special trip), take the scrap & sell it. It will probably pay for your next beer purchase.
