This may seem a silly question, but your mechanic is checking the fluid level the correct way? With the engine hot and the transmission in drive?

Could the rear end just happen to "connect" enough with the "new" tranny to back it up and then screw up again because there was a one time little clunk noise from the rear when I first put it in gear and that's what the mechanic was saying but of course he's ready to charge to help me with the shot in the dark rear end swap lol... Think it may be worth it to perhaps try to let the car run again in drive until it gets up to operating temp and slowly let the fluid run out and see if anything happens because at this point I've just gotten home and it looks like its too much fluid right now but of course its cold (and it wasn't a stupid question because I was surely wondering as well lol)...Will see in the morning I guess. thanks for everything so far guys & I'll bug everyone again tomorrow!

You need to pull the cooler lines and make sure the tranny is pumping fluid. If it isn't you'll know that's your problem.
Is is possible that the original tranny was bad and you broke the ears on the input shaft when you put in the new tranny?

Been out of the country and just finally got to get back to my baby which was STILL in the garage missing me lol... I've been unable to update until tonight but sure enough I've pulled the cooler lines and have vice grips holding the lines to spray right into the clear containers but NO TRANS FLUID IS SPRAYING AT ALL UGH!!! I did go ahead and change my rear end gear oil too (before pulling the trans cooler lines) but now I guess the question is, what in the heck is next? Someone did call that earlier too... I THOUGHT my mechanic changed out the cooler lines (cause he said so) but I see he didn't...they just weren't frozen on etc and I still have my other lines from the other 300sd but now I'm wondering if my fluid may have screwed up the transmission since it may have been overfilled since it was a huge puddle of transmission fluid when I first backed it out and it wouldn't move again. Is that possible?

... this sounds like the front pump ears have sheared off...
since you had him move the original Torque converter to the new transmission, it's very easy to make an error and not engage all the flanges with the TC. no fluid pumping, no pump functioning...

No no the original TC wasn't switched at all, the TC and transmission from my other perfectly fine 300sd was installed... the original tranny looks to be fine as far as the filter when drained also so I really don't know where to turn at this point but I'm hoping that shearing mess isn't the case...how can that happen when the TC was installed with the tranny?

If there is no fluid in the transmission, the pump won't pump it. It would pump fluid even if it was overfilled but overfilling usually causes the fluid to aerate I think. It sure sounds to me as if the front pump was damaged on installation.

Is there any way to check out the pump or do I have to have this sucker pulled too? Where do I look? Actually I wonder where the location is so I can check on the tranny that's out already so I'll know where to look if it's not an internal part... Thanks so far guys but this is killing me ugh!

It is the cast iron bit you can see inthe center of the bell housing. You have to drop the tranny.
