What was last year of 617

I want to buy another car. What was the last year of the 617? I know the SD changed in 86 (per 126 FSM)

What about the 300D?

1985 was the last year for the 617 in the 123 and 126 chassis. 86 126 went to a long wheel base with a 603 and 87 was the first year of the 124 with a 603 and in 88 the 603 was replaced by the 602 in the 124

616 and 617's continued to be sold in MB vans after they were discontinued in the automobiles.

And none of these were sold in any sort of large quantity in the US. Might find a few motor homes or Mogs here and there but neither is exactly a daily driver.

True enough, with the 25 yr rule on imports, a person could bring one in from Europe now. Not sure MB ever put the 617 in a Mog. Did they?

i have seen 617 powered mogs but have no idea if they are conversions. i know people do 602/3 conversions on them. if i recall they had a 616. Whats this 25 year rule? I am unaware of this.

If you import a vehicle that is 25 yrs old or older and it was never certified to be sold in the US, you don't have to upgrade it to US specifications. Just import it, register it and drive it.
