vacuum hose source?

Hello all,

I am looking for a source to buy some vacuum hose. Maybe a meter or two, to have some extra on hand. I need both the 3.5 mm ID and the 5.0 mm ID hose. I checked Fastlane and Allparts as well as some other parts web sites, and cannot find it anywhere! I'm using some generic silicone hose now, which works for a while, but the pieces nearest to the exhaust manifold get hard and brittle and then split after just a few months. And then I get P0200, which is my clue that it's time to replace some piece of hose or another.

Not interested in generic inch-size hose, I want the correct metric sizes, preferably in a quality german-made hose that will last.

This is for 1997 E300. Thanks

Your local MB dealer can get you the correct sized vacuum hose, both the hard plastic lines, and the rubber pieces.

Do you have the part numbers for these? I much prefer to order online or over the phone, and have parts shipped to my door, instead of driving all over town to pick them up.

I've seen these folks mentioned before but haven't personally used them:

Try calling Fastlane or AllParts, they can get stuff that isn't listed on the parts pages. The pages only show what is in stock, and not necessarily all the parts that are available.

I've bought mine at the VW / Audi dealership (closer to my home, and less expensive than the MB dealership).

Ok OK, I admit it's going to sound weird.

I've been using the rigid tubing and connectors from the drip irrigation system that have at Lowe's and Home Depot.

Prior to that I had been looking at aquarium supply.

Try all the sources I could think of but between the hose and much more expensive the 40 or more connectors, "L's", "J's", "T's" and crosses there was well over $100. If you can ever find a wholesale outlet you'll see that the margin on those parts is astronomical.

I ended up running an errand today that took me past the MB dealer. I bought 1 meter of 3.5 mm ID vacuum hose, and 1 meter of 5 mm ID hose. Part numbers are:

617-997-08-82 for the 3.5 mm ID hose.

605-078-05-81 for the 5 mm ID hose.

I've had enough with the other misc hardware store hose. I've used all different types and materials and invariably, it becomes brittle and cracks in under a year. I just want something that I can install and forget about for a few years at least. Of course the dealer prices on this were astronomical, $15.44 for 1m of 3.5mm hose and $21.00 for 1m of 5mm hose. But hopefully now I won't get P0200 every other month because some random hose segment cracked apart AGAIN...
