Hooked...need more MB's!

I'm hooked...need cash!

In the GR Press, there is an 83 300 TD for $1800, and a 74 240 D for $500. My lovely wife gave me a resounding "NO".

I've always liked the wagen...still stalking another 240D w/no rust, that never seems to be moved...

Ya'll must live a better life than me. I keep looking for a cheap MB for one of my children and can't seem to find one in my area. Looked at a 80 Wagon for 400 dollars the other day and when I arrived the guy wanted 4000 dollars. The car was in very poor condition and I left after being lied to about the price when I called to verify.

The gentleman selling his wagon in TX has a car about 50 times better than the crook I talked to.

Have a good day.

I don't have the problem of wanting a lot of MB's. I have the problem of wanting that one MB to be perfect.

I am hooked I must admit and confession is half the battle right? My Volvo has been a faithful workhorse for the 9 years I've owned it. Paid $2400 in 93 and have put another 125k on top of the 150k that it already had. Very few repairs and 28 m.p.g.
Why then am I constantly on Ebay in hopes that my Volvo will die and I can get a 3rd MB? Wierd.

I thought everyone needed five?

I think there are more of us out there with the fever than we care to admit. Some of us have had Benz's years and years ago for short periods of time, and now have finally settled down somewhere and our Benz family starts growing all over again. Still remember the first Benz I owned when I was sixteen. Bought this semi-rough exterior 220S wingback from an insurance agent. This car had a straight line six with dual solex carbs and a four speed on the column. The wood interior was in beautiful shape, but the exterior needed some rust restoration. Didn't know what I had in my hands for all of $250.00 and all it needed to get it running was the timing set. The second Benz was a '78 240 with manual tranny over in Germany. With the pace of the other cars on the autobahn, this car was extremely slow at 160 KM. I finally fell out of the Benz ownership due to moving quite a bit until a year ago when I talked the wife into the '80 300TD. Oh well, it's been three Benz later since this last year, and actually my wife hasn't complained yet, except for parking at the house. She drives the '86 300E daily and loves it to death, the only child we have that doesn't talk back I suppose. I think it would be hard pressed to get her out of a Benz and into something different after experiencing the ride she has been enjoying. Of course I get stuck with any maintenance that needs doing. I drive the diesel '84 300SD, it's a guy thing she says.
I'm not sure I could press my luck with another two Benz's and still have her smiling at me, mainly because insurance gets to be a deciding factor if you're not driving the car on a daily basis. I have seven vehicles I have to pay insurance on now, so I see her point when there are only two drivers in the family thus far.

Charles
