Tucson Az U-Pull-It Auto Parts

I was in Tucson last week (Feb 17 - 27) visiting family. I found that there are two pick n pull lots there. The one I went to was on the East side right next to the Davis Monthan Air base. They are very well organized and even have lists they give you of the cars you are interested... i.e. Mercedes. Address: 4151 E Michigan St. Tucson, Az 85714 (520-790-5211)

The lot is dry and the footing is pretty good. The prices are slightly higher than the Michigan pic n pull I go to. The sheet metal, if it is not dented, is in great condition (not rusty). The interior plastic, vinyl and leather is not so good (brittle, shredded, cracked, trashed) as these are sun baked cars. The mechanical bits come off very easily (not rusted). In some cases the engine compartments were choked with plant debris (not from the lot).

For a small fee I helped myself to some of the unobtanium on the diesels. It costs $1 to get in and if there is a wheel barrow you can use it no charge.

Here are the cars they had in their inventory: (multiple years = multiple cars)
> 190E 1990
> 230 1975
> 240D 1982 ,1982
> 250 1971
> 260E 1989
> 300E 1990
> 300SD 1984
> 450SE 1973, 1974
> 450SL 1974, 1979

Happy Hunting.

Pete

Sounds like fun - though I'd rather be picking bits off of the planes next door!

The pick n pull on Apple White in San antonio is the largest one I have ever seen,-paved roads between the rows, and a covered truck trolly driving around giving coustomers a ride back up front. Yak told me about this place, and they have a fair amount of benz's in the souteast corner.

Everytime I see a pick-n-pull in the US I am reminded of the thieves that run ours in Canada. I wish I could be there ...if only to ogle at old cars.

The Tucson P n pull actually did have the cars their computer print off said they did. I was pretty impressed. It only takes a tiny bit of effort to do that and it makes a big impression on the customer and facilitates the removal of parts (improvement of P n pull bottom line) as well as keeping the frustration level minimized. Unusual maybe... I only wish the P n pull here in the Detroit metro area did this... Are they too lazy? maybe yes maybe not.

For a more impressive pic, click on satellite view in the above link.

wow that PNp sure makes it easy to check the Mercedes inventory. gives a list of all they have.

Our PNP here in Calif, click on make - mercedes - then there is a long list of all models. have click on each one. IE, 240, 300 380 etc.... for each yard. time consuming.

Now if it had it listed, 300D Euro, 5-spd with 617 FW...............
