B looks like a wastegate actuator. Keep that. A & C are EGR transducers, one for the EGR and one for the ARV. Ditch those.

300D50 is selling the block off plates soon. http://superturbodiesel.com/std/electrical-mechanical-prototyping-short-run-manufacturing-services-t-2262.html#pid25123
Brian Carlton used to, not sure if he still has them. AAA is correct. Make sure the ARV line is plugged as well.

The ARV and EGR lines can go away, and so can the box in picture 2 that the air goes through from the air filter (keep the bracket, replace the box with a tube). Next eliminate the A and C devices along with the vacuum lines to/from them, and change the 5-way vacuum splitter on the front of the engine to a 3-way.

Cool....But what happens if I just put 2 bb's in the 5 way two connector ports on the left side feeding these components. And what about the fresh air lines to the cabin that come from the AVR or ? (has an inline filter)?
I'll check the source for the EGR Plate in a few minutes. Thanks again! Last edited by 86-300sdl; 03-04-2011 at 06:41 PM. Reason: add text |

Yes, two BBs will do the job, it's just cleaner to remove all of the plumbing.
AFAIK, the black line is just atmosphere for the sensors, can be eliminated (or just pull the line out from the rubber connector next to the brake booster, and stick the filter on there).

Awsome men...One more thought. do I need to do something with the plate in the "box" under the filter like pin it open. Looks vacuum activated or is it just on a spring and it gets sucked out of the way with RPMs?

Don't buy a block-off plate. Either disconnect the Vac line and plug it (BB or screw) or remove the EGR gasket and use it as a template to cut a steel plate with NO center hole to replace it. Looks factory and stealthy

Good idea as I think the EGR might be leaky as it looks as though there is some soot / gases leaking. Stainless steel or? for the plate.

Steel, or just gasket material without an opening. It's bolted to cast iron, ...
The AirFlow Meter can be eliminated with a piece of pipe, then you don't have to mess with the door in it.

BB's Installed
Ready for "off -road" with the BB's installed. Seems to have eliminated a leak or two. Runs well!!!
Thanks, rob |
