source for oem tool kit?

where does one get the tool kit that originally came with the W123 - the one with the mercedes box end wrenches, etc. Checked major parts websites and ebay, didn't find anything.

edit: to be clear, i'm talking about these

Although I do not recall a specific Diesel Tool Kit the ones for the W123 Gassers come up on eBay sometimes.
In my opinion they sell for a lot of money considering the type and quality of Tools in the sets.

yours is missing the 19mm long wrench....and the gizmo that helps you put the wheel on. that said.... none of my sets has a couple of the inbetween open wrenches

if you can't find one on ebay... let me know..i've got a spare set...

There's usually 4 or 5 kits listed on ebay ranging from expensive to ridiculous ($50 to $1500). Search under "Mercedes tools". Many of the kits are incomplete and therefore sell the cheapest. If you are patient, you can buy an incomplete kit and wait for the individual tools to show up as they do from time to time. Seems like the screwdrivers and/or the handle for them is mostly missing. Most of the kits are gasser kits and you won't need the spark plug wrench. The older kits can often be found with an allen wrench for the oil pan drain (old style plugs).

Put your reasonable bids in and wait until you snag one. It took me 4 months to get one for my TD. I'm now looking for one appropriate for the '66 230.

As was mentioned, they are not real high quality tools, but are nice to have in a pinch.

Or you can be impatient and get a complete kit from me by sending me a PM.

scour the parts yards, buy used old cars, and scour the trunks... of 27 MB's I've dug through, 5 have had kits... none had the wheel/stud alignment tool...

I had an original unopened tool kit that came with my 190E when I got it.

When the tire exploded on the highway my only option was to open it =[

There is one on ebay right now, check it out:

I heard that the PNP guys pull the tool kits and throw them away. reason is people take the tools and don`t pay for them.

what a waste, then couild pull them and have them up front in the oppice display to sell.
I have come across 2 empty pouches, and a tool here and there. once in a while find the tire mounting guide tool.

What does this tire alignment tool look like? I'd like a picture if any one has one.

Related question: How many folks have the manual sunroof tool?

picture a long bolt with no head on it. it's rounded at the opposite to the threaded end. and the rounded end is knurled/stippled for finger gripping. same thread as the lug bolts. usually made of aluminum.

I've never heard of a manual sunroof tool...
you mean a tool to manually open the sunroof of an electric sunroof? I thought that was what the lug wrench was for? that's what my owner's manual says...

Post Tool Fun

I'd like to see this wheel tool....

Early W-123's had a little hex tool thing in the side of the trunk , you fit it into the sunroof drive mechanisim then turn it with the lug wrench .

I see them occasionally .

Pick-A-Part yard apes don't take the tools the other guy who got to the car before you did , did .

Some P-A-P yards have several milk crates full of junky tools and occasionally factory toolkit tools too , $1.00 each .

I was told by a guy I know that pulls parts and e-bays them, that the tools are pulled and tossed.

same with the wheels, they are pulled off before the cars are set in the yard. been looking for the elusive 15" bundts.
