fuel line 606

forum, i seem to need another assist,am taking the ip off a 1997 e300diesel,the newer type of fuel line connector has me stumped,i slid the little white clip in as far as i could get it to slide with my fingers and the connector does not want to separate. is there a trick(twist, lift, press in ,etc ) to getting a disconnect? the little white clip will push in and leave about a 1/16 inch gap for furthur travel inward, was tempted to try some more force but decided to ask a dumb question first.(seems like i break less by having no pride, lol and ask for an assist)
has anyone replace fuel lines on a 606 or simular type fuel line who could offer a suggestion?
thanks,larry perkins
