For Sale
I have an 85 300D that has 170K miles on it. I have owned the car since Sept 1993. It had 117K miles on it when I bought it. It is in excellent shape. It has never been in a shop for repairs. I have a record of everything that I did on the car including fuel records, any repairs that I did. Rebuilt injectors 2009,new Bilstein shocks in 2009, all new rubber hoses in 2003, 2 new Pirelli front tires 2010, had the instrument panel repaired in 2009. The interior is in great shape and the exterior is in good condition. No A.C, and no tach. I guess i'm getting too old to keep up with it properly, so I would just like to get an idea what the car is worth. (Ballpark). Thanks, Bill.

I would say $500.00 is in the ball park. It might bring a little more down in the "for sale" section.

That was cold, Jim.
Having lived in upstate NY, I would be terrified of a car that has spent any time there. On the plus side, it sounds like the repairs could be transplanted to a solid southern car, so I would look at parting it out. The interior could be a valuable asset. Down south the heat raises Cain with the interior. If you have a nice northern interior you should be able to sell it for a good price. I have been searching for a couple of years for good gray seats for my 300SD's. Hope you sell your car for what you want.

the 85 is one of the sought after years, mainly for it's taller diff ratio, and slightly stronger engine.
RUST is an issue, and heavy inspections are needed to verify it's existence. 170K is low miles for the vehicle, but verifying mileage is impossible, as it's just too easy to fake it. Pictures will help get you a good price, and yes, we have a for sale section as well as a craigslist pointer thread!

I've seen W123's with 150k that were extremely rusted out. All depends on where/when those miles were driven!

as far as the no A/C no tach, that sounds like classic OVP/fuse issue

With my car the no AC/no Tach was because of a bad crank position sensor. They replaced that and it came back to life.
