123 Ch Coil Spring Compressor
Upon returning from Boston for the last couple of days I discovered my wife's 300d drivers side coil spring laying in front of the car. I am in Falmouth Mass on Cape Cod. The car is not drivable. Is there anyone that could rent me a correct style coil compressor in my area? Thank you.

http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=295527 This forum has the following tool rental program:- http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/forumdisplay.php?f=93 |
Im in Boston but another forum member is borrowing the compressor.
It will be free as of next week. |
same here. I've got one to rent as well. also currently in use, and will be free next week.
PM either or both of us so we will have the request to send rental info on the tool. |
I had to enlarge the hole a bit. 15min with a carbide dremel bit opened it up enough to get it through.

I could not resist the joke.
2 of you said your Compressor was free next week. Does that mean there is No Rental Fee if you rent the Compressor next week? I know you were thinking it the Compressors would be available next Week. |

Just pulled the spring compressor out of the passenger side. It fit through the hole this time, but it was a huge pain getting it to line up with the hole. Lots of pushing, pulling, and ill thoughts about whoever designed such a thing.

Here's a shot of the hole that I made bigger from the underside.

Yip, you sure got a hole there, bit enough to throw a cat through. ;)
All you need to ream out is the inner piece of sheet metal. be sure to treat the bare metal with some POR. Charlie |
Roy told me it's not really needed to treat the bare metal, because the leaking oil will keep it all lubed!
Byron, lemme know if you need some por-15 I've got both gray and black. |
I'm in Boston, and I have a Klann knock off.
It works well on my W124's. you are free to five it a try on the W123. Keeping in mind you may have to enlarge the hole on your car a bit. feel free to PM me or if more easy. . email btcost@gmail.com |
Many thanks for all the helpful responses. A friend of mine lent me one which he fabricated himself ( he is a tool & die maker). The suggestion about opening the whole larger is appreciated. I will let everyone know how I made out and If I have to try another route.
Thanks, Charles |
