Throttle Linkage Part
 

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what this part is called and, even better, what the part number might be (if it is even available).
There is a rubber block (bushing?), that is not clearly shown on the right side where the longitudinal regulating shaft goes in, that crumbled apart on my way home from work today.
I'm planning to give Phil a call in the morning as well, but I thought I'd try to get a jump on it here. I'd like to try to find this part in time to have a Saturday (3/19) delivery (good luck, right?), but any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: I'm looking at the manual (30-300 Adjusting Throttle Linkage) and the part appears to be called an Angle Lever.

EDIT: Replaced previous diagram taken from manual and replaced with one found in EPC. Item #206 is the correct part (#A6170703622).

Part of its description might include ' manual engine shutoff lever'.....
There are several designs of those linkages... best to take a picture of yours and send to those you are dealing with for parts.... in addition to whatever else you find out about it....

The epic just says lever and yes, there are a number of different ones. Have your engine serial number handy when you call/talk to the dealer.

@ Army: Thanks very much for this. I see that you spotted yours failing before it actually failed. Wish I had spotted mine before it went "ding". One more thing to look for when inspecting for trouble.

@leathermang: I see what you mean by several designs. Even the one that is called out in the manual looks a bit different than mine. I followed your advice and took some pictures. Thanks very much.

@toomany MBZ: I wish I had read your reply before I left the house this morning. I'm planning to see the dealer this afternoon, but no time to run back home first. Probably a good idea to record my engine serial number, along with the VIN. Thanks for the tip.

Some people are smart and can trace your vin number from your registration... unfortunately over here the Mercedes dealer doesn't do that - but lots of the independent shops do! (Tip you might "need" to buy something else somewhere else if you catch my drift)

Thanks to everyone's help, as well as Phil @ PeachParts, I was able to find the correct part online and it should arrive by next Wednesday (3/23).

According to the site I purchased from, the part is called a control lever.

The part number is A6170703622 (Thanks again, Phil).

I called the dealer before looking around. Their price was $287!

I wound up paying $211 online, plus tax and shipping, bringing it to $250.

Still, an unbelievable price, for a part like this. Oh well.

If that price is just for the control lever; I think some dealers in the US are really taking the piss - my part was expensive but if I remember correctly it was "only" around the 50 euro mark. They could however have given you a price for the whole engine throttle linkage...

Today 02-21-13 I stop at MB of Reno, Nv. to see if this part is still available, and how much. OH WOW!!! today is give away day, how many do you want?
talk about sticker shock. :eek: Only 6 available.

Last Oct I drove to my Moms in Carson City, to take her to the Reno airport for a flight to Kansas City the next morning. she is 91. next morn Iam on the way to Reno and notice the 240 seemed slugish, not it`s normal peppy self. but make it to Reno. before I leave I pop the hood and do a visual and don`t notice anything out of line. fuel filters new, valves done, tank screen clean etc...

so off I go, get on I-80 heading west. going through Reno there are some up grades and she is pooping out a bit more. get past Verdi, Boom Town and Cabellas and then we start to climb. now hills I could take in 4th we are doing it in 3rd and then 2nd. HMMMM....pull over pop the hood again, and see the rubber piece as shown in post #1 is hanging by a piece of rubber. Oh great. Well I guess 31 years is the life of these things.

Limp up ther shoulder 1/4 mile to the CHP truck scales and pull in line with the big rigs till I can get to the parking lot.
Pop the hood and look around in the trunk and find a Coat Hanger. Mc Giver a temp fix to get home. I almost always keep the big tool box with me.

Couple days later remove the wire and used Zip Ties to hold it together. dang better than it has ever been the 3 yrs we have owned it.:D

NOTE: always keep a bunch of Zip Ties in your tool kit. I do now.


Now Iam on a search looking at the various Diesel models to see what other one used the same piece, and if I can find a good one , or see how to modify it.

This one Stretch shows in this post, though a coupld number different, sure looks the same as the one the dealer showed me in the other part#.

I found this linkage on a G Wagon site. for $59 Iam sure it could fit/work.
