91 300D... no start, tach dead random electrical issues

OMFG!!!

ok, I get a call from my customer... car will not start, entire dash goes dead random times. tach having problems on the road... etc.
I figure the OVP relay is giving issues, so I schedule to go look over the car.

he glows the car, then hits the starter, click from the solenoid, then dead. nothing on the dash...

um, not an OVP issue...

battery has positive cable end replaced with a bolt on end. corrosion on the ends, and accessory cable loose.
I point it out to the owner, and he tells me wallmart could not get the original cable off the old battery so they cut it off, and did that.

ARRRRRGH!

I cleaned it up, put the acc cable under the starter cable, and tightened it back up, told him I recommend at a minimum have the ends tinned, and replace the end. better would be to pull a cable from a parts car and fix it right.

Did your fix work? (LOL) It's always frustrating working on re-engineered stuff.

To the typical walmart employee around here, a terminal press would probably invoce some wrastlin' move.
