Oil filter stand differences
 

Hello all. I am in the process of putting a 1985 300D 617 turbo in a 1985 300SD. I see a difference in the oil filter stand, concerning the manual vs. electronic oil pressure sender mounting position. The SD setup would work, I believe, if the tap were replumbed to accomodate the SD sender on the D stand. Anyone have other suggestions?

Don't bother with trying to make an adapter. Just take the filter housing from the motor that is going to be replaced and swap it in. Anybody who has their motor out of the car should replace that less then 5 dollars housing gasket to the block anyways. They are a typical source for leaks.

The above is a good idea also because the Block to Oil Filter Gasket tends to leak when they get Old anyway. Swapping the Oil Filter Housings now with a new gaskets means you will have one less oil leak to deal with.

I am not looking forward to it but I bought the Oil Filter Housing Gasket and the Fuel Injection Pump Gasket and in the coming month or so will be changing them in hopes of stopping the Oil Leaks there.

I just ordered a Fuel Injection Pump Timing/Locking Pin in hopes of making the job a little easier. So I am waiting on that before I plan a time to do the Gaskets.
