My '82 240D 4-speed For Sale

My '82 240D is up for sale. Had a lot of work done. I had the detailed descriptions and pictures at http://daytona.craigslist.org/cto/2285097559.html

I am thinking it is worth $1,600. Is this fair price or too low or too high?

Since you asked... seems a bit high for over 300k and body damage. This market is crazy, right now. seen 'em go for low $900 to over $5000.

Yea the body damage really screws you on the price. I've seen em around here for 1,200 with 240k miles, no body damage.

Why not repair it and don't sell? You seem to have a lot of money in the car.

Agreed. That one looks like a keeper. Put in a little work here and there and you'll always have a karma complete ride.

Fair price in my book. Especially if one is able to verifiy the work.

Have 3 MB's and 1 LX450. Two drivers. So there are always two cars not driven and still need all the upkeep. With the economy the way it is, wife said why not turn into cash instead.

Car is basically rust free but not 100% percentage rust free. Little paint chip rust here and there but nothing major. Bottom of the car is very clean.

Yes I realize the body damage limits the interests on the car. It is really good for somebody who wants a reliable cheap car - high school kids maybe?

Also, on the oil leak subject - it is oily at the air intake area where the breather hose connected to. It is from the blowby which I don't consider it as leak unless everybody else thinks otherwise. All engine seals and oil cooler line are in very good condition. Also forgot to mention that I replace the lower oil pan gasket when I replaced a tired oil pump.

Front passenger door still works but you need to slam it to shut right. Door bottom section was bent. Need a new door for sure. Too much work to try to straighten out the existing one.

How about some better close up shots of the whole thing, inside and out, including the body damage. Normally I'd eschew a vehicle that's been dinged but it doesn't look too bad to me from what I can see. If it's really just confined to the door and fender that's not really a big deal and I'm pretty sure someone would be able to replace those and have a very good car from the description of what else was done to it. If I were not a penniless married man I really would be very interested. Its a twin of my late 240D which was an 81 that I bought at 317K miles and ran till almost 390K before I screwed it up trying to work on the clutch and brakes. Still kick myself every day for not having kept it.
