96 E300 FUEL LEAK

Hi everyone, I have a leak in the base of the fuel regulator, it has two hose on it. First is a black rubber hose I think its supply from the tank, second is a clear plastic hose that goes to the prefilter. What kind of gasket do I need, is it O ring or paper gasket? 96 E300 Thanks in advance!!!

Is there any way you can post a picture of what you are talking about?

Sounds like he's talking about the fuel heater. It sits in the block under the intake manifold.

Leaking fuel out? Probably from one of the o-rings on the pipe. To fix that, buy a new pipe. Buy the rest of them while you're there.

But if it's that, I'd be surprised if your engine starts easily.

Thanks for the response. Its the fuel heater thats sits on top of the head, it is leaking on the base with four torx screws not on the hoses. I want to know what kind of gasket do I need and how many. Thanks again in advance!

Its leaking diesel just on the base, but not much just moist especially when the tank is full. But no leak if the tank is 3/4 full. Thanks again in advance!

Phil can lokk it up for you; its not shown on Fastlane that I can find.

It usually called a Fuel Pre-Heater or Thermostat in forum discussions.

Could it leak diesel from the base? That doesn't sound possible.
