I have a 1978 300cd with a very tired motor and a suspect tranny. There is a chance I can trade one of my parts cars for an intact driveline from an '82-'83 w126 300sd (car was junked due to rust years ago and the vendor can't remember exactly what year it was).
From my understanding, not all the transmissions used in the w126 will fit into a w123. Am I correct? If so, does anyone have any guidance on year(s) or model number(s) that will fit? Also I would assume that I will also need to install from a later, turbodiesel w123: - "horns" for the motor mounts - oil cooler lines - air cleaner assembly - and what else? If you can point me to a fellow lister, or an existing thread, much appreciated. Cheers mac
