Installing Tachometer

Hello everyone,

For some time now I've been thinking about installing a tachometer in my Euro 300D. Currently I have a nonfunctioning clock where the tach is on US models.

Does anyone have a DYI instruction guide for this installation?

How involved of a project is it? I've done a lot of mechanical work on my car, shocks, springs, engine mounts, valve adjustments, etc, but not much electrical work. If it is a pretty straight forward job then I would take it on myself.

Thanks for any tips!

You will probably find that you don't have the wiring - it makes the process a little more difficult but not impossible.

Here's how far I've got with the problem

I'm not quite there yet

Definitely the cheaper option - there are some gucci looking pillar mounted ones out there too but if you want it to look like Mercedes put it there then... well there's a bit of work to do on a 123.130 chassis anyway
