I've been watching 350SD/L prices a lot myself... I see the auctions closing at very high numbers for cars with 120k on them (Danger zone for the 603.97x!!!). But then I see the cars relisted....

Wow! Not even close to tempting for me. OTOH, if it was a '78 300SD in very good shape (first year diesel S-class, first ever turbo-diesel passenger car, same year I was born, plus I like the 116 a lot more than the 126), then I might be drooling

There's a euro signal red 190D near me with only ~65K. They started at 15K, and are now down to 8K OBO. I think it'd be pretty sweet deal at $5000.

Yep, $25K is a lot. Heck, I would sell my '81 for half that; here's a picture that I took of it this weekend.

That is a lot (Too much)... That is not "Leather Interior" either.

Nice car either way. Wrong color for the southern states. Drop $7000 just for the black.

I want to say that wheel looks like it is repainted..

Faiding on L/R door "B" piller and plastic door trim is wrinkled.

Seat belt track rod is missing the dress up cap on the L/R side of the hump.

Is that some rust under the air cleaner around the spring perch hole?

I would like to see how plugged up the hole in the manifold is under the EGR valve.

Strange the date starts in 92 on the report.

Also the seats look too nice for the age.

Not to mention that the nets in the back of the seats are soggy....a very good indication of high mileage .....

nahh. not really, the nets are held up with rubberbands basically, and rubber fails with age. the car is 28 years old... rubberbands don't last that long.

bottom line is there is just NOT enough good pictures to justify a purchase of this car.
in person visual inspection of ALL the issue points is needed.

If I was going to drop anything like that amount of money on a vintage Benz diesel I would be buying from Mercedes Motoring. I have never seen their work up close but it looks flawless and the price range is similar.

Wow

Their stuff looks impressive. The paintwork is beautiful, that's for sure.

A friend and I once had dreams of a business like that. Regrettably, no one here in central and eastern Canada appears to give a rat's butt about older Mercedes diesels anymore, and their value is in the toilet.

Oh but to live in LA....

Mercedes motoring has an Impressive web page and the owner is a real study of how to restore and tune.I would bet that his main objective is having a great product like a vintage MB be recognized for the next generation of drivers .
