Front regulators from 90's 350SDL will fit early 126's
the new design looks stronger, and has a wider perch that fits fine in the extra hole.
the motor sits in the opposite direction, but the window works! I also found out that the 85 inside door handle is a redesign of the early design that snaps... and it bolts in to an older design... and they are in stock NEW at the dealer! $20 is each!

 So the older design only used 2 mounting screws?-J

Any idea if
rear regulators are in the same boat? Need one, maybe two for my 1981 300SD...
 Sure wouldn't mind a cheaper alternative...

well, the rear glass is 3" wider, so it likely won't work.
all the regulators use 3 points to bolt in, but the SDL has the forward most bolt in a different location than the older SD's. look at my picture, see the bolt hole with the paint rubbed off it to the left of the nut that is tight? that's where the older regulators attach the third bolt.
