Idle Speed Adjust?

My idle speed is a smidge too high, even considering the lowest setting on the knob adjustment on the dash. What's the proper procedure for lowering it a bit more?

Thanks,
KenB

im not sure about proper procedure. i would first make sure that with the knob all the way out there is a slight amount of slack on the wire that opens the injector pump linkage. check that when you manually operate that lever that eveything looks like its resting freee of too much tension. vague right. theres specs in the service manual. if all else fails grab a 14mm deep socket and extension and loosen the locknut on the side of the injection pump nearest the engine. it should have a long threaded bolt with a slot head running through the locknut. i like to spray some penetrating oil on the bolt/nut so they dont move together. on a 240 its a little tricky to counterhold the locknut while screwing the adjust bolt counterclockwise to lower idle. try using a pry bar or large flat blade to hold the locknut. on a 300d you can use a 14mm crowfoot wrench to make things easier.
