Towing a w123 wagon with a w123 sedan :)
5 Attachment(s)
Ok so a few days ago i saw a guy two a w126 couple with a diesel engine in it with a w124 diesel wagon.
Now i didnt go 1800miles, but with an auto tranny and non turbo motor it sure felt like it ;) Gotta love harbor freight cheapo lights! |
Then when i got home since im moving i decided to tow my other wagon which was fully loaded and had the motor and tranny in it.
Didnt notcied too much of a difference. Total trip with first wagon was 400 miles second in town trip with loaded wagon was 20miles. |
I got a benz rear hitch like that on the bay now--I thought they only fit the TD
|
I thought towing any MB was damaging to the transmission?

I can do one better. I used to have a pic someone snapped of either an SD or an SDL towing a semi tractor on the freeway around Los Angeles. Absolutely incredible, and it seemed authentic. Now THAT would be a white-knuckle ride :shuriken: |
If your on a long haul it will but i put it in N and only went one way 20miles....if i were going on a long trip i would disconnect the drive line.
The euro tow hitches after a certain year are the same sedan/wagon as far as the main part that mounts to the rear of the car under the bumper....however the reinforcements are different. |
I think this is exactly what I am going to do some day when I move from rainy Washington state to the desert. I'll install a trailer hitch on my 1980 300SD and will bolt a tow bar to my 1967 230 wagon. Then use a UHaul for the rest of the stuff.

We need pictures of the wagon SquiggleDog!!

I rope towed my suburban with my 123 300d back in the day.
About the same time I pulled my 18' flatbed reo truck with cummins 166 and five speed when it conked out. I wondered if it could but no problemo!;) |

Several times I have pulled cars out when bogged with wire strainers. Have used wire strainers to remove motors from cars several times when I didnt have a chain block. ~ a little farm engineering!! |
