The Doktor Has The Blues:
Growing up, I often listened to many of the early greats in the blues genre. Some of my early musical influences were Howlin' Wolf, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Muddy Waters, Son House and Robert Johnson. Later influences included Albert King, Gary Moore, Rory Gallagher, B.B. King and Coco Montoya.
Many of you may not know that I have been a blues musician for many years. Recently, I decided to devote 100% of my time to my music after nearly 20 years out of the business. Our new CD, Hardcore Blues, is receiving heavy airplay in Europe, South America, Australia, Japan, the Philippines and many of the former Eastern Bloc nations. Although not Mercedes in nature, you may find this of interest. Last year, I performed a 30-Day Frame-Off Restoration Blitzkrieg on my 1975 Pontiac Firebird, including a factory-look swap from automatic to a 4 speed. I just uploaded the slideshow to You Tube. The video features three songs from our European CD in the background. You can watch the video slideshow here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HNURuJ18cNw One of the things that many of you fellow car buffs may find interesting (about this video) is my Firebird's uncanny similarity to the sound of Steve McQueens' 1968 390 GT Mustang from the movie 'Bullitt.' This video drives home my DIY theme, proving that you can do almost anything in your driveway, whether you have a MBZ or an old Pontiwreck. You can also visit our official website, open during construction: http://www.robertherndonproject.com We also have Facebook and My Space pages under The Robert Herndon Project. We invite all of you to come and visit!!! B.B. King fans (like me) will love the guitar lead in our song, 'The King Is Gone' (A tribute to the late Albert King) in which I intentionally emulate B.B.'s sound in one section of the song. We will be in Europe in this year and will kick off our European tour with a September 17th performance at the Darlington Blues Festival in England. Enjoy!!!!
