Well today sucked....

Had a AC compressor Changed (been mid 90's here) Turns out they forgot something..... so now, I'm sure. my car is un-driveable the way it sits (you tell me) until the shop replaces the parts that are broken... the upper belt tensioning system is completely Disconnected....

I'm going to one-up you.

The car I was going to haul to TXjake in exchange for parts got crowned by a tree that blew down at my friend's house, and he is so far unwilling to report it, and I can't as yet move it til I take many more good pics.

A rust-free Southern 190D ponton with an extra interior.

Still crying the blues? I'll swap ya!

It looks like your spring tensioner snapped where it connects to the tensioner lever arm. The bolt attaching the top of the damper to the cyl head is also gone.

Pretty easy repairs of thats all that happen and you have another spring tensioner.

If you drive it you'll be without a WP and alt so probably shouldnt unless its a very short, quick trip to the shop.

Your diligence noticing the abnormal temp saved their company some money!

Belt tensioners are easy to replace. I just recently changed the one on my sister's 190E 2.3 in the street....in just over an hour....with basic tools.....never having done one before.

That should be a no fault claim on his homeowners. He will/may have a deductible that may be more than the car is worth - (per the ins company). He should at least read the contract and talk to his agent. Keep remarks to agent on a "hypothetical" basis & make sure his answer is based on the contract, not shoot from the hip most likely. My friend got a carrier (MET) homeowners to total his A4 because rain got in to the electrical & fried a bunch of stuff.

A lot of people don't like to make claims on their homeowner's policy because they're afraid of having their insurance terminated. Too many claims and they'll drop you like a hot potato.

This guy is trying to get out of paying anything but he'll have to, because I can't mmove my ponton until he gets a frickin' two ton tree off it!

In the meantime, I am pulling everything out of everywhere because I am tired of dealing with people like this.

if he won't turn it in on his insurance, turn it in on yours... believe me, your insurance company will file the claim against his insurance!
