AT Shift Rod Stuck
Gents,
78 W116 617 engine with 722.120 trans. I just replaced the NSS and associated bushings and I was in the process of adjusting the shift rod and I discovered that it's fused (rusted) together. I've tried everything I can think of to get it to budge with no luck. I've even heated it and put PB Blaster on it as well as Deep Creep and nothing. So my question is where can I get another such rod. I've looked all over and can't even find a part number for the thing. I've checked all the usual places with no success. Does anyone have any tips on how to get the seized rod to let loose without destroying it....I"m game to try it if you do. Your help is appreciated, Duke1 |

Email Phil (Phillip@peachparts.com) or Talk with Roy (whunter) both guys are extremely knowledgeable, Phil can find you a part, and Roy may be able to talk you through how to free yours up.

Well I spoke with Roy (Whunter) as you suggested Aquaticedge and he gave me some tips on heating the item up and then dousing it with 30W. Did it several times and it worked.
Thanks for the help. Duke1 |
