idle increase on '83 SD

I have set my 300SD's idle at 700-750 rpm. When I start the car and take my son to school, I put it in park and walk with him inside. After coming back to the car, the rpm have increased to 1000. I can blip the accelerator and it goes back down. Then, in just a little while, it goes back up to 1000. It only does this when the car is warming up to 80C. What's happening? I have checked the linkage and it's lubed well. Thanks for your help.
