3rd Row Seat
2 Attachment(s)
Do any of you let your kids ride in the 3rd row seats? You might want to reconsider.
I did (in the 124) 20 years ago when they were young, but only in fairly low-risk driving.
That hit might have caused foot injuries, but would have been far from their knees. |
I'll bet the whiplash would have been pretty intense. The car was siting at a red light when it got rear ended by an F-350. The way the floor buckled up it probably would have been more than just foot injuries.

Whiplash? When the Gs are forward in a rear-facing? Don't the 123s have head restraints?
Yes I do but in a 124 not a 123. You think my kids are safer there or in a 20 year old mini-van?
That is why I never let my daughter ride in the 3rd row seat when it didn't have the 2nd row headrests. Talk about snapping a neck!!
I've been letting my kids ride back there since we can't all fit in the car otherwise. Getting rear ended has definitely crossed my mind a lot though. Although, I would assume that getting t-boned could hurt us just as bad. Most of the time my wife has the kids in our 2500 Suburban. It sits high enough and is heavy enough to make me rest a little easier.

My kids ride in the third seat. That TD took that hit pretty well if you ask me.
euro bumpers sure don't absorb much...
The kids go in the third row when we need the passenger room. But I am very aware of who is behind me and how close when they are back there. I am able to get their child seats nice and tight.
