Where is the The Fuel Pressure/Over Flow Valve that controls fuel supply pressure to

1981 300SD

Can someone help me locate the
"The Fuel Pressure/Over Flow Valve that controls fuel supply pressure to the Fuel Injection Pump Housing " on my '81 300SD.

Describe where or if anyone had a pic with one of those arrows .....

Want to remove this and clean it...

Thanks
AA

It's on the IP facing the block by the temp sensor on a return banjo fitting. 17 mm. Spring is weakened over the years. Stretching it to increase pressure works temporarily.

If that's what I think it is, follow the hard plastic line located on top of the fuel filter head, the return three way item.

One line is from the injector return line, one to the cigar hose and that plastic line from the banjo bolt.

On the other end, at the IP is another banjo bolt, inside that is a spring and a ball bearing.

The FSM pdf is in the above link, post 5.

On top of your Fuel Filter is a Banjo that has 3 hoses connected to it. One hose is the Injector Fuel Return line, the other is a straight Hose that goes down to the Rear of the Fuel Injection Pump Housing (on the side of the Fuel Injection Pump closest to the Engine), the other hose is the Cigar Hose that takes the return Fuel Back to the tank.

Simply trace the straight hose down to the back of the Fuel Injection Pump and loosen what appears to be the Banjo Bolt (but it is the Pressure Relief/Over Flow Valve) and remove it if you want to. There will be 2 Aluminum or Copper Crush washers that seal the area.

In the pic the Red Arrow points to where the Pressure Relief/Over Flow Valve would go.
