Nice project! I am glad you got it finished. I would love to hear more about the performance and mileage you are able to achieve with your hybrid setup!

So have you found out how much power that engine puts out with the turbo?

I am leaning towards water injection if intake temps do end up high once the 10mm pump is in.
Think I may push the current ip a bit more for now. My egts max out around 1050, so have room for more fuel. Timing is crackling a bit right now, really sounds about right. was pulling a trailer this weekend so can't really tell much. But did pass a cummins powered Dodge uphill. He had a horse trailer, but still nice not to be the slowest.

Wanted to up the records as it has been a while...
I have put 8k on this combination and I am really happy with it. Unfortunately the IP and engine crapped out, so I found a good used engine to replace this one with to save time, (this is my summer car). I am going to put a 10mm MW and upgrade the 2056V to a 2256V. I would like to build the current engine up with piston squirters and get another 201 to put it in with a 5 speed, but that is time and funding dependent... I remember some one wanted to put a 617 in a 201 but I can not find the thread... That would be a really tight fit... I always wonder if it came to be.. I will also be installing heavy duty springs up front, with other people in the car the stock ones are too week, with a 617 that would be a must do for sure. |

I was one of the people that wanted to jam a 617 in there. I ended up going to opposite way and created the slowest 190d of all time. (2.2 601 motor) coupled to an auto gasser trans and the 2.85 gasser differential. Amazingly, its not bad at all to drive...still faster than a 240d auto! I've put nearly 3,000 miles on it with no issues. I get about 29-31 city and 36-38 highway.....revs are about 3000 at 75mph.

Heck... we are practically neighbors!!! lol I looked at a 601 to put a turbo on, but I just do not like aluminum heads on a driver that is being pushed... Plus the 616 is built like a military tractor and the 601 is more of a traditional "high tec" for it’s time engine, and they usually realize that the previous engine was over built, so they "crunch some numbers" to determine a closer proximity to the required durability target, which is fine if it is left alone, but doesn’t leave much margin for modifications. I actually prefer to drive the burned down turbo 616 than the stock 617a in my 300d lol |
