240d revs real high at stop.

Hello,

I have an 81 240d. Its happened twice now but I will come to a stop light or sign and all of a sudden the car starts reving real high like i have my foot on the gas. Immediately i turned the car off. I start and it and it starts to do it again. I gave the gas pedal a little pump when i started it again and it went back down to a normal idle.

Kinda scary.

When I first got the car i took it to a shop and he said the crusie control was jimmy rigged all weird. Could that be the culprit?

How can I disengage it?

jake

Can you post pictures of that cruise control and of your throttle linkages ?
Close ups of good quality would really help others help you...
