My 3-4 flare is gone!

With working on the 115 is at a stand still while I shop engines, finally convinced #1 daughter to leave the 123 car with me long enough to work on it.

I have been trying to stop a 3rd to 4th flare to no avail for some time now, mostly verifying vacuum components were all working and trying to adjust pressures. After doing some searches for other ideas on here I decided to change the filter / fluid again. Only this time I added in Lucas Trans Fix.

The car shifts great now, no more flare. 1-2 and 2-3 are a little stiff but nothing I can't fix with a touch more vacuum.

Dam near makes me forget that I need a new engine for the 115.

They claim they have no solvents in that product...

We know that improvements with Trans-X involve dissolving the varnish in the small holes in the auto trans valve body which are often gravity operated check valves..thus not much varnish can cause the bb sized balls to not close fast enough or not at all..

So what is your theory as to how the Lucas Trans Fix works ?

Yes, I put a new k1 spring in mine and still have the flare. It is better but still there.

I have no theory why it worked. I know trans X is thought by many (not all)to be snake oil but didn't see a down side to giving it a try. I noticed it is very thick in comparison to ATF could this have an effect? All I know is this is my second filter / atf change and when trans x was added to the mix the 3-4 flare is gone. I probably should have changed the k2 spring, but didn't.

Bill,
In your first post you said " lucas trans fix " ( which advertizes no solvents and thus my question as to how it works) ... in your last it sounds like you used Trans-x ... I have recommended Trans-X for decades.... and have posted about my 'cures' with it.. some of which were dramatic...
Which one was it ? Trans-x is a varnish solvent.... no snake oil or magic...

well, he said it's very thick, so that leaves out trans-x because trans-x is very thin...

LOL, yes you can. Many people old enough to have had British sports cars ( 1957 XK Jaguar 140 in my case ) consider Lucas ( electrical systems- positive ground no less ) to be a snake oil whatever it is associated with.... LOL

OK... but to make it clear... what DID you USE that worked ?
