I'm going as fast as I can...

It's a beautiful day in the San Francisco Bay area today, and I wanted to get in a last drive through Marin County along the coast before the Rapture hits this evening.

The 240D performed just fine, purring along and even climbing the twisty hills on Highway 1 without too much trouble. On the way out of Marin heading to the Golden Gate Bridge there's a looong grade on 101. I was going 65 per usual at the bottom of the hill and and in right lane. There are 3-4 lanes going toward the bridge and there was no traffic today. This crazy newish SL decided to sit on my tail all the way up the grade. As usual, I was going 45 with the pedal to the metal by the top, and this silly SL just stayed on my bumper. Plenty of opportunity to pass, yet she just sat there. WTF? I almost wish the car were out of tune so I could have thoroughly sooted her. ;-) Some people are just stupid.

When I had a diesel Vanagon, I had a bumper sticker for it that said "48 horsepower. Please, just pass." It seemed to help.

Possibly the person was just following the person in front of her and was not really paying attention.

I thought about getting a sticker or something for my 240D explaining the lack of horsepower, but I never got around to it. I occasionally got a single digit salute in the thing, but not as often as when I drove a lifted Sammy that topped out at 60.

That could be, too.

My wife hates changing lanes so she tends to just continue on until she comes up behind a slower car in her lane, then follow it.
